    Can any Home Inspector become a HWA member?

    No. HWA requires that all Home Inspector applicants be a Candidate or Member of a professional Home Inspector Association (such as ASHI, NAHI, or NACHI), or maintain proof of state license (where applicable).

    What does it cost a home inspector to join HWA?

    The cost for joining HWA currently is a one-time application fee of $100 and an annual Membership fee.

    Can the home Inspector renew membership yearly? What is the rate?

    Yes. The membership fee varies on what Package the home inspector chooses. The annual membership fee for the Member and Expert Package is $100; the annual membership fee for the Professional Package is $90; and the annual membership fee for the Ambassador Package is $75.

    What is the cost per warranty?

    You are able to purchase warranties in bulk numbers. There are currently four different packages to choose from. The cost per warranty goes down as the bulk purchase goes up.

    What are the payment methods and options HWA accepts?

    What will HWA provide me with after I become a member?

    After Membership has been accepted with HWA, HWA will mail the Home Inspector a welcome packet of information including: tear-off sheets of Sample Coverage Terms to give to the homeowner and stickers for marketing materials. Furthermore, HWA will enroll the Home Inspector in the free Client-Follow-up Program which markets the Home Inspector's name to the client by sending maintenance tips via e-mail.

    What does the Home Inspection Warranty include?

    The Home Inspection Warranty includes coverage for the heating system/furnace, air conditioning system/cooler, kitchen refrigerator, washer/dryer package, roof leaf repair, 13 SEER equipment upgrade, ductwork, plumbing system, permanent sump pump, water heater, whirlpool bath tub, electrical system, exhaust fan, ceiling fans, burglar and fire alarm systems, door bells, central vacuum, dishwasher, garbage disposal, built-in-microwave, range/oven/cooktop, trash compactor, and garage door system.

    When does coverage for the Home Inspection Warranty begin?

    Home Inspection Plan coverage is provided when ordered and paid by an HWA approved home inspector. HWA provides a 48-hour order and 7-day payment grace period. Coverage for a seller begins on the date an approved inspector performs a pre-list inspection for the home seller and is covered for the remainder of the listing period, 180 days, or the date of sale, whichever occurs first. Coverage for a home buyer begins on the date an approved inspector performs a pre-purchase inspection for the home buyer and is covered for 90 days from inspection date, or 30 days after closing, whichever occurs first.

    How does the Home Inspector order the Home Inspection Warranty for the clients?

    Can the Home Inspector purchase the Home Inspection Warranty in bulk?

    Yes. Bulk orders are accepted in quantities of 5, 10, and 25.

    Does the Home Inspector have to include the warranty on all of the inspections?

    The Home Inspector is not required to include a warranty on every inspection, but it is recommended. The Home Inspection Warranty will help the Inspector get more business. The Home Inspector must order the warranty for each customer for whom Inspector provides a warranty contract. HWA provides a 48-hour
    order and 7-day payment grace period.

    Will the homeowner be able to renew with HWA after the Home Inspection Warranty runs out?

    Certainly. The homeowner will have the option to purchase HWA's comprehensive Home Warranty after expiration of the Home Inspection Warranty. The homeowner or real estate professional will be responsible to order the warranty. HWA will handle getting the extended warranty information directly to the homeowner.

    Who is responsible for placing a claim? And how is a claim filed?

    The Home Owner is responsible for placing the claim. Information about the claims process is contained in the warranty sample coverage terms provided by the inspector to the customer with each inspection.

    Is there a service call fee? Who is responsible for paying it?

    The service call fee is $100 per occurrence, and the homeowner is responsible for paying it at the time of service.
